Do You Need a New Furnace?

Air Conditioning Installation

Now is not an ideal time to experience problems with your furnace. With the weather already cold in Rocky River, OH, things are bound to get colder soon, waiting on a serious problem could only make things worse. And if you don’t think your furnace can make it to spring, you need to move on it now, before the need for a reliable heating system becomes too great to risk a day to install a new system.

But it can be hard to know when that point arrives, or if your heater can make it to next spring, when you can plan to have it replaced at leisure. Every furnace is different and the final decision rests with the homeowner. But in general, we recommend applying these three criteria to the state of the furnace. If two of these conditions are met, it’s probably time to get it replaced.

1. High Monthly Bills

Every heater loses efficiency over time as individual parts wear out, and the longer you keep your system, the higher the cost to heat your home will be. Regular maintenance can curtail that trend, but sooner or later, the cost of running it will be more than the system is worth.

2. Recent Repairs

If you’ve had multiple repairs in the last six months, it’s usually an indication of lingering long-term problems. Or there might be only one repair upcoming, but it costs so much that you’re again paying more than the system is worth.

3. The Warranty

The above two issues can be mitigated if the system is still under warranty. If the warranty has expired, however, and those issues are springing up, then prompt replacement is likely in order.
